Operational Audit

Find out where AI actually fits in your business , before you spend a euro on it.

A paid, structured diagnostic. We analyse how your business actually runs, identify the friction points AI could realistically address, and deliver a written readout you can act on or take to your board.

What it is

A diagnostic product, not a strategy product.

Most companies asking about AI are actually asking about something else. They’ve heard AI is transformative; they’ve seen vendor pitches; they’ve maybe done a workshop. What they don’t have is a clear, honest read on how their business actually runs , and therefore where AI fits, where it doesn’t, and what to do first.

Operational Audit answers that. Strategy & Advisory helps you make a decision. Operational Audit helps you understand what the decision is.

Who it’s for

The operator who knows the business runs messier than the org chart suggests.

Often a COO, Head of Operations, MD, or General Manager. They’ve been told “we need an AI strategy” but suspect, correctly, that they need to understand their operations first.

Profile A

“We want to use AI but don't know where.”

Leadership has bought into AI conceptually but can't point at the workflow that needs it. The Audit gives you that map.

Profile B

“We've done training and it hasn't stuck.”

Companies that hired Nomad (or someone else) for training and found the team still isn't using AI six months later. The Audit explains why, usually it's about workflows, not skills.

Profile C

“We need to make a real investment decision.”

Companies considering a six-figure spend on AI tooling, hiring, or transformation. The Audit gives them a defensible basis for that decision.

Not for: companies who already know exactly what they want to build (that’s a Nomad OS Discovery), or companies looking for a 50-page strategy deck (that’s a Big-4 firm), or companies who haven’t yet had a leadership conversation about whether AI is a priority (that’s a Briefing first).

The three tiers

Same shape across tiers, depth varies.

How an Audit runs

Setup, discovery, synthesis, follow-up.

  1. Week 1

    Setup

60-minute kickoff with the buyer and key stakeholders. Agree the scope: which teams, which workflows, which interviews. Interview invitations go out. We begin desk research on the business.

  2. Weeks 2–3 (or 2–6 for Enterprise)

    Discovery

Stakeholder interviews, process and tooling inventory, document analysis where you provide documents. We cross-reference what we hear against what we see in the systems.

  3. Final week

    Synthesis + delivery

Internal analysis and writeup. Draft review with the buyer 24 hours before the presentation. Final presentation to the leadership team. Deliverable handover.

  4. +30 days

    Follow-up

A 30-minute call with the buyer. What's been actioned, what's stuck, what we missed. Included on every engagement.

What you walk away with

Five things, scaled to tier.

Operational map

A visual representation of how work actually flows in the business, teams, tools, handoffs, dependencies, friction points.

AI opportunity register

Every place AI could realistically help, with a one-page summary for each: the workflow, the friction, what AI could do, implementation cost, expected return.

Prioritisation

Opportunities ranked by a transparent model, impact (time/cost saved) × feasibility (technical risk + change-management cost). Not opinion; a defensible framework.

Recommendations

What we'd do in the next 90 days, the next 12 months, and what to deliberately defer. Where Nomad would fit, and where you'd be better off with someone else, or with no one at all.

Executive 1-pager

The whole thing on one page, for the board or the leadership team.

We don’t deliver 200-slide decks. We don’t deliver consultant-flavoured prose where every paragraph could mean three things. We deliver short, clear, falsifiable readouts that someone could disagree with.

What we don’t do

The shapes you might expect that we won’t take.

  • Deliver an Audit and refuse to recommend implementation paths, most consultancies stop there; we don't.
  • Recommend Nomad as the implementer if Nomad isn't the right fit, we'll point you at a better partner when we're not it.
  • Deliver the readout and disappear, the 30-day follow-up is included on every engagement.
  • “Free audits”, the free call is a 30-minute intro; an Audit is a paid engagement with a written deliverable.
  • AI Readiness Assessments, that format is vendor-led, designed to sell you the vendor's product. Our Audit is vendor-neutral.
What it feeds into

Most Audits lead to one of three next steps.

Some lead to “do nothing yet, come back when X is in place.” That’s a legitimate outcome and one we’ll recommend when it’s the right answer. The Audit fee is the same either way; we don’t make money on the follow-on, so we don’t have a reason to sell one that doesn’t fit.
